Full Stack Engineering – Fidessa (OMS) Equities Development – Advanced Structured Programming
Role Summary / Purpose
This role works with other IT disciplines to define and plan the introduction of new systems or changes to existing systems, identifying costs and requirements and ensuring plans are in place to exploit them. They are experts in a specific skill set, business area or product, but remain focused primarily on daily execution of deliverables, developing solutions based upon subject expertise and resolving complex problems or transactions where expertise is required. Roles at this level take ownership for one or more processes, products, etc.
May supervise day-to-day work of less experienced staff, but will not typically have a formal management role
Principal Accountabilities:
• Provide assistance in technical leadership for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT systems to supported business units;
• Prepare detailed specifications that describe input, output and logical operation; and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language;
• Work with business analysts and architects to define and plan the introduction of new systems or changes to existing systems, identifying costs and requirements and ensuring plans are in place to exploit them;
• Apply specialist expertise in the development of IT systems with the objective of optimizing operational performance and improving quality whilst increasing cost-effectiveness;
• Oversee the work of less experienced staff, contributing to the delivery of projects on time and in budget with appropriate quality;
• Manage the rectification of production system issues with the minimum disruption to the business;
• Occasionally represent the department or function at a broader level;
• Develop an expert-level understanding of major local systems and their associated IT development requirements;
• Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions, internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behavior.
