Description of Role

 

Major Asset Manager with over $150Bil AUM for institutional investors and other entities across the globe.

 

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will also be responsible for actively participating on the team that will design and deliver our new enterprise data master solution and warehouse, PRISM (Portfolio, Returns, Index, and Security Master).  The delivery of the platform will culminate with the retirement of the existing legacy applications.

 

In this role, you will work closely with our subject matter experts on our Digital Information Services Team (DIS), Investment, Client Service and Compliance teams.  You will be a valuable team member that will build and operationalize data pipelines and transformation processes that our meet business requirements for accuracy, timeliness and consistency. You will leverage your strong knowledge of industry best practices for enterprise data management and governance.

 

The role requires experience with SQL databases, including query structuring, and ETL/ELT process expertise. You will be engineering enterprise data transformation and delivery to a variety of vendor cloud based platforms and a set of in-house developed databases.

 

Work you will do

  • Be part of our Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team implementing a cloud-based (AWS) enterprise data warehouse using Snowflake, Informatica, Python and SQL.

 

  • Develop ETL processes to capture and load various third-party security, analytics and benchmark data and internal data sources into our Snowflake based data warehouse.
  • Develop appropriate schemas, logical and physical models, and service interfaces for PRISM.

 

  • Work closely with management and peers to implement industry best practices for coding, testing and documentation.

 

  • Support, Monitor and maintain the existing SQL Server legacy data warehouse and supporting applications until their retirement.

 

  • Build common data processing components and encourage team wide adoption that can be leveraged to reduce code redundancy and increase reusability.

 

  • Deliver Business intelligence (Tableau) capabilities that meet business requirements.

 

  • Prepare key documentation to support the technical design

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.

 

  • Ability to work full time and on a permanent basis in the United States.

 

  • Proficient in documenting requirements, talking with business stakeholders, articulating and raising queries/clarifications with stakeholders

 

  • Willingness to work in hybrid work place (currently remote Monday and Friday)

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ Financial Services / Capital Markets experience.

 

  • Fixed Income Asset Management data domains knowledge (Security Master, Index, Holdings, Fixed Income Analytics and Characteristics)

 

  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience with Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with ETL tools (Informatica preferred) and Master Data Management Applications

 

  • Hands on experience implementation of a modern data warehouse migration to new technology and retirement of legacy platforms

 

  • Experience in developing service interfaces (SQL or web service) for business systems from a core or enterprise data store

 

  • Demonstrated success delivering solutions for investment personal. (Trading, Portfolio Management, Research)
