Senior Production Support Specialist
Contract or Permanent employ
This role is required to assist the support function for the Equities business areas. The main purpose of the role is to ensure and maintain business application stability as well as action client/user requests/problems.
Responsible For:
• Supporting the trading desk and solving time-sensitive issues
• The liaison between the front office and the development teams
• Regular communications with an extensive client base to provide status updates successful solutions as well as documenting all activities for future reference
• Managing communication/relationship with 3rd party vendors
• Implementing releases and deploying fixes on the production environments
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Graduate level computing/math based qualification
• Understanding of the Equities Trading business
• Front Office support experience in an Investment Banking environment
• Experience of working in a high pressure environment
• Extensive scripting and programming skills
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Experience writing shell scripts to automate tasks on Linux servers (eg. bash, tclsh, perl)
• Experience writing scripts to automate tasks on Windows servers and desktops (eg.Powershell,.bat,VB,.cmd)
• Knowledge of batch management using standard tools or other scheduling software (eg. AutoSys, cron, Task Scheduler, Control-M)
• Understanding of various devOps toolkits (eg. Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, LogStash, GitHub, Splunk)
• Experience with the FIX protocol (both sell-side to buy-side connectivity and internal messaging between OMSs)
• History of using service management technologies for service restoration, change and problem tracking (e.g. BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, JIRA Service Desk)
• Advanced use of ITIL framework collaboration technologies (eg. JIRA, Confluence) including setting up custom screens, screen schemes, permission schemes & workflows
• Configuration and deployment of monitoring samplers, via agents or ssh; setting up rules and alerts (eg. HP OMW, Geneos)
• Experience creating technology and business workflow documents and articles for technology and business (eg. Visio, Gliffy)
• History of writing SQL across large, complex relational databases (eg. Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle) using various database administration tools (eg. SSMS, TOAD, DBArtisan, Squirrel)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Understanding of the FIX messaging protocol
• Knowledge of Fidessa Enterprise (OMAR, TMAR, PMAC, FDA, EMMA, FIXP, APAS)
• Experience of an Algorithmic trading platform and cash equities trading
• Strong investment banking background that includes both application development and application support in a front-office environment
• Experience of supporting one or more of the main equity asset classes. Structured Products, Delta One, Futures or Prime Brokerage.
